We’re pleased to announce that ASIC has approved MOVE Bank’s name change, which was approved by our members at the last Annual General Meeting on 13 November, 2025.

Over the coming months, we'll be transitioning to the new name. During this time, whether you see Railways Credit Union, MOVE Bank, or MoveBank, you’re still banking with the same award-winning bank.

Nothing changes about the way you bank with us — except the name.

Our team remains the same
Our ownership remains the same
Our services and commitment to our members remain the same
Your existing agreements, contacts, and support channels remain unchanged

You’ll simply start seeing our new name on emails, invoices, documents, and communications.

We've started our transition by updating a few key documents such as our Privacy Policy and Conditions of Use. We have also taken this opportunity to make updates to our Conditions of Use and Account & Access Facilities document to reflect recent decisions already communicated to you, such as discontinuing cheques and the Christmas Saver product.

It’s Scams Awareness Week (25–29 August 2025), a time dedicated to shining a spotlight on the tricks scammers use and, more importantly, how we can protect ourselves and each other. At MOVE Bank, we’re proud to support Scamwatch’s Stop. Check. Protect. campaign message, helping our members stay alert to scams and reduce their risk of falling victim.

Scams are unfortunately a growing part of daily life, with billions lost across Australia each year. By understanding the latest trends and taking simple steps to stay safe, you can protect not just your money, but your personal information too.

What’s the Scam Situation Right Now?

Australians lost a whopping $2.03 billion to scams in 2024, though this is actually 25.9% lower than in 2023. This is proof that collective efforts are having an impact.
Still, between January and August 2025, roughly 90k scam reports were filed totalling approximately $147 million
Investment scams remain the costliest, accounting for almost half of financial losses (about $73 million during that period)
Phishing scams, those sneaky impersonations via email or text, are also prevalent with Australians losing approximately $14.6 million so far this year.

You may already know this simple but powerful motto—Stop, Check, Protect. It’s the National Anti-Scam Centre’s best-practice mantra for scam awareness.

If something seems off, even something as simple as an unexpected call or message, stop and breathe.

Don’t reply directly to the message. Call the official number listed on the organisation’s website.

Protect: Reach Out and Report

RBA Official Cash Rate Change - August 2025

The Reserve Bank has recently announced a 0.25% reduction in the official cash rate. MOVE Bank is pleased to announce that, from 1 September 2025, we will be passing on the full 0.25% reduction to our existing members with Variable Rate Term Home Loans.

External Reference Number in Internet Banking

We’ve made an update to Internet Banking

You’ll now see your external reference number displayed in the Account Details section of Internet Banking.

This number starts with 100- and is the account number you should use when transferring funds from another financial institution into your MOVE Bank account.

This change is designed to make transferring funds into your account easier and more transparent.

We recently invited members still receiving paper statements to make the switch to eStatements and we’re thrilled with the response!

As part of our ‘Opt In and Branch Out’ initiative, we committed to planting a tree for every member who made the switch. We’re excited to share that 150 members made the change. That’s 150 trees going into the ground thanks to our friends at Carbon Neutral, who are helping restore biodiversity across Australia.

Who is Carbon Neutral?

Carbon Neutral is a proud Australian organisation dedicated to planting trees, restoring forests and tackling climate change. They aim to make lasting change through certified reforestation projects, such as their Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor project in Western Australia. This is where our trees will be planted!
